    Position Overview

    We are seeking an experienced and dependable **Lead Diesel Mechanic** to oversee and perform maintenance on a **fleet of 24 school buses** at our Lake Charles location. This position operates independently, managing all aspects of fleet maintenance and shop operations to ensure safe and efficient transportation for local students.

    Responsibilities include:

    + Performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on diesel buses

    + Managing maintenance schedules and keeping accurate service records

    + Ordering parts and maintaining shop inventory

    + Ensuring compliance with DOT, state, and company safety standards

    + Overseeing all aspects of daily shop operations

    + Collaborating with location management to support operational goals

    Qualifications

    + Minimum 5 years of diesel or automotive repair experience (school bus or fleet preferred)

    + Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain; training provided)

    + Prior experience in a lead technician or supervisory role preferred

    + Must provide own basic mechanic’s tool set

    + Willingness to participate in ASE certification program (company-paid)

    + Must meet all DOT safety and drug testing requirements
