This position leads the development, optimization, and support of manufacturing processes and equipment across production operations. The role plays a critical part in ensuring products are manufactured consistently efficiently and to the highest quality standards. It requires strong engineering fundamentals, hands on experience with manufacturing systems, and continuous improvement mindset. The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer will work cross-functionally to support both new products introductions and legacy products sustainment, drive process capability, and contribute to scaling production through automation and robust process design.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & REQUIRED ABILITIES
Partner with R&D Engineering throughout phase gate product development process, to lead and execute manufacturing engineering tasks such as DFM/A, PFMEA and other.
Develop and validate assembly and test procedures; analyze complex data sets, generate technical reports, and present findings to cross functional teams.
Establish and standardize best practices, process documentation, and operating instructions to ensure scalable, repeatable manufacturing.
Lead planning, tooling design and equipment specification to improve efficacy and throughput for both new and legacy products; support automation strategy and implementation.
Design precision tooling and fixtures using 3D CAD, ensuring manufacturability and ergonomic integration.
Provide technical support for CNC machine operations, including documentation, process optimization, and troubleshooting.
Oversee assembly and testing of fluidic components such as pumps, sensors, columns, and valves, ensuring compliance with performance and quality standards.
Investigate and resolve material or process defects; perform root cause analysis and direct rework or corrective actions for non-conforming parts.
Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to lead facility-wide improvement initiatives focused on cost, quality, and cycle time.
Lead necessary containment for all products upon learning of issue or potential issue with products.
Drive implementation of corrective actions with relevant stakeholders and update work instructions and control plans accordingly.
Generate required reports to communicate resolution with customer.
Lead qualification of new parts/materials, and machine validation through FAI/capability analysis, or equivalent.
Develop valuate, and document manufacturing processes for both new and legacy products to ensure repeatability and compliance with quality, cost, safety, and cycle-time targets.
Prepare and justify Capital Appropriation Requests for equipment, tooling, and process improvements.
Manage special projects supporting operations and customer needs, including those requiring extended hours, travel, or specialized training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering or related field.
8+ years of progressive experience in Manufacturing engineering with proven senior- level expertise.
Demonstrated leadership in managing complex manufacturing projects from concept to completion.
Strong project management skills, including oversight of capital equipment purchases, vendor coordination and production floor integration.
Experience leading cross- functional teams and managing multiple concurrent projects under tight timelines.
Proficient in SolidWorks/CAD, Minitab and Microsoft Office Suite: comfortable with data driven decision making.
Deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles (SMED, TPM,5S,JIT ect) and practical application in mid to high volume environment.
Familiarity with inspection and measurement systems, quality protocols, and regulatory compliance.
Exceptional problem solving, analytical, and technical skills with a fucus on continuous improvement.
High attention to detail, strong organizational habits and ability to prioritize effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills: able to influence and collaborate across departments.
Proven track record of mentoring, coaching and developing junior engineers and technicians.
Self-motivated, dependable, and driven to deliver results with a high level of energy and ownership.
Creative thinker with strong interpersonal skills a proactive approach to challenges.
Experience in budgeting, cost analysis, and ROI evaluation for equipment and process investments.
Comfortable presenting technical concepts and project updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
5 + years of “hands-on” experience in hard materials manufacturing environment (Ceramics, Ruby, Sapphire, Glass, etc.).
Experience with grinding and lapping equipment, including setup and process refinement.
Experience with fluid control and electro-mechanical devices like pumps, sensors, solenoid/rotary valves, test equipment.
Comfortable working with ultra-precision tolerances in demanding manufacturing environment.
Experience with CNC milling and turning processes including tooling and process refinement.
Commitment to ongoing technical development in the above and future advanced technologies and specialized manufacturing methods.
Comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices, tools, and specifications (DOE, DFM/A, PFMEA, SPC, PDCA, flow charts, etc.).
Experience conducting investigations, root cause analysis, and risk assessment to support quality and reliability.
Experience generating specifications, selecting vendors, and supporting implementation of automated equipment, including validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ)
Experience with capital equipment purchases and integration into production workflows, including layout planning and installation coordination and collaboration across multiple teams.
Experience working with JD Edwards or similar enterprise resource planning software.
Experience applying ergonomics principles to improve safety and streamline workflows.
