About the Role
The Business Intelligence and AI team at Caterpillar Financial Services is on a mission to make enterprise data easy to find and easy to use.
We’re looking for a Data Modeling Engineer who’s passionate about putting data into the hands of our customers. In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of semantic models and consumption layers that power analytics, dashboards, and AI-driven insights across Caterpillar Financial. You’ll be a strategic partner to business stakeholders and a mentor to junior engineers, driving innovation and usability in our data platforms.
You’ll work with tools like Power BI and Snowflake to build scalable, intuitive data solutions that support hundreds of users across finance, operations, and customer experience.

What you will do:
+ Lead semantic modeling and consumption delivery in Snowflake, Power BI, and Business Objects tailored to business customer needs
+ Act as a bridge between technical teams and business users to ensure usability and business value
+ Provide SME-level support and mentorship to junior team members in modeling, application delivery, and process adherence
+ Translate functional requirements into technical designs to accelerate solution delivery and adoption
+ Participate in preparing technical and procedural documentation required in application system development
+ Provide detailed flowcharts to show processing logic for simple application programs
+ Follow team standards and practices to ensure high-quality and sustainable deliverables
+ Testing and ensuring quality deliverables
+ Engage directly with users to address questions and support training, testing, and feedback loops to improve deliverables
What you will have:
+ Expertise in dimensional modeling, semantic layer design, and data architecture
+ Experience with SQL, data modeling, and BI tools (Power BI preferred)
+ Ability to translate business needs into scalable data models
+ Deep understanding of data governance, performance optimization, and metadata management
+ Strong collaboration and communication skills
+ Innovative mindset with a passion for enabling self-service analytics
+ Proven leadership in mentoring and guiding technical teams

Degree Requirement
A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent experience is required.

**System and Technology Integration** : Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.

**System Testing** : Knowledge of system and software testing; ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle.

+ Verifies the proper flow of transactions across all input, output and storage channels or devices.
+ Evaluates interoperability of new systems with existing systems during the beta testing phase.
+ Supervises the testing of complex, multi-platform and distributed applications.
+ Designs processes to ensure that the system meets and maintains requirements and expectations.
+ Coaches end users on the development of test data and test scenarios for system validation.
+ Manages the execution of test plans, including resources, strategies, schedules, processes and tools.
**Systems Software Infrastructure** : Knowledge of computer architecture and system software interaction; ability to design and build a fundamental architecture of operating systems, database management systems, communications protocols, compilers and other development tools.

Additional information:
+ This position requires the successful candidate to work full time, 5 days per week in the Nashville main office.

Summary Pay Range:
$116,532.00 - $216,384.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
