Senior Data Scientist (AI and Data Governance)
Overview:
JHNA is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Data Scientist to lead the development of enterprise-level artificial intelligence, automation, and data governance capabilities. This position blends deep technical expertise with strategic leadership, supporting JHNA's mission to deliver advanced analytics, AI-driven solutions, and decision-support tools to Army and defense customers.
In this role, you will help shape the future of JHNA's analytics offerings by revitalizing internal initiatives, automating key workflows, and driving innovation across the enterprise. You will partner with government customers and internal teams to architect scalable data solutions, build intelligent automation systems, and accelerate JHNA's adoption of emerging AI technologies in support of missions for organizations such as Army Futures Command (AFC), DEVCOM, CASCOM, Naval partners, and other DoD partners.
Roles/Responsibilities:
AI, Data Governance, and Automation Leadership
+ Revitalize and lead JHNA's AI Tiger Team, spearheading the design and deployment of applied AI solutions across the company.
+ Develop and implement a scalable data governance framework to support internal analytics, acquisitions, and contract execution.
+ Oversee the design and deployment of intelligent automation tools for proposal generation, contract management, compliance reporting, HR workflows, and financial analytics.
+ Mentor junior data science talent and oversee the development of AI-bots and decision-support tools for internal and external use.
+ Integrate advanced data engineering and analytics approaches to support enterprise-level decision-making.
Business Development and Strategic Growth
+ Identify, shape, and pursue opportunities for AI-enabled solutions with defense, government, and commercial clients.
+ Collaborate with BD teams to design proposals, develop win themes, and position JHNA as a leader in AI and data governance.
+ Support strategic growth initiatives aligned with JHNA's core mission areas, including autonomy, digital transformation, data exploitation, and decision intelligence.
+ Contribute to the expansion of automation capabilities as part of future COTS product offerings and scalable enterprise solutions.
Analytical and Technical Execution
+ Partner with program leads and technical experts to define meaningful metrics and data requirements that support mission objectives.
+ Develop reports, dashboards, and analytical tools that translate complex data into actionable insights.
+ Lead the creation of data management plans, governance policies, and analytic frameworks to standardize processes and ensure data integrity.
+ Support ongoing efforts in data-driven studies, operational modeling, and analytic tool development across JHNA's portfolio.
Required Qualifications:
+ Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to maintain a Secret Clerance
+ Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
+ 7+ years of experience applying AI, data governance, or analytics solutions in a government or defense environment.
+ Proven track record leading enterprise-level automation or AI initiatives, including governance framework design and tool development.
+ Experience developing and delivering data products (e.g., dashboards, analytic tools, or automation platforms) that drive decision-making.
+ Demonstrated ability to bridge technical and business domains, including shaping opportunities and supporting capture/proposal efforts.
Desired Qualifications:
+ Experience mentoring and leading cross-functional technical teams.
+ Familiarity with Army data strategies, acquisition analytics, or mission command systems.
+ Experience implementing MLOps, data pipelines, or AI/ML production environments.
+ Proven success building AI-enabled tools that support HR, finance, BD, or operational analysis workflows.
