    About the Role

     

    As the Engineering Operations & Reliability Manager, you will lead a team responsible for the mechanical and electrical operations across a facility, campus, or portfolio of buildings. You will also serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Mechanical Engineering, driving reliability programs, optimizing maintenance strategies, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise to deliver operational excellence.

     

    What you’ll do

    Leadership & Management

    •Provide formal supervision, training, and development for engineering staff.

    •Conduct performance evaluations, recruit and onboard new team members.

    •Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and mentor staff.

    •Manage daily operations of facility controls and asset management systems.

    •Oversee contractors, subcontractors, and engineers on maintenance activities.

    •Prepare and manage annual operating budgets and maintenance forecasts.

    •Lead continuous improvement initiatives and technical peer reviews.

    •Integrate with clients for operational changes and reconfigurations.

    •Model CBRE RISE values and foster a culture of excellence and inclusion.

    Reliability Engineering & Technical Expertise

    •Develop and optimize maintenance plans aligned with mechanical engineering standards.

    •Lead criticality reviews, PM optimization, and defect elimination (RCA, FMEA, FMECA).

    •Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems (HVAC, boilers, pressure vessels, lifting equipment).

    •Conduct vibration, ultrasound, and thermal assessments; analyze failure modes and recommend corrective actions.

    •Trend MTBF/MTTR and use data to reduce downtime and improve asset performance.

    •Implement CBRE’s Reliability+ approach to reduce reactive work and optimize energy use.

    •Analyze historical data to identify reliability risks and ensure technical compliance.

    •Use CMMS/CAFM systems to track KPIs (PM compliance, reactive mix, wrench time).

    •Produce client-ready reports with actionable insights.

    •Coach FM teams on reliability methods (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).

    What you’ll need

    •Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

    •Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline preferred.

    •5–7 years of experience in reliability, maintenance, or engineering operations.

    •Proven SME-level expertise in mechanical systems (boilers, HVAC, pressure vessels).

    •Strong leadership and team management experience.

    •Proficiency in CMMS/CAFM systems and reliability tools (RCA, FMEA).

    •Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

    •Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently.

    •Membership in an engineering professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IEE) preferred.

    Pay Disclaimer: CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for this position is $95,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $120,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
