    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    Under the general supervision of theSurgical Services Managerandthe direct supervision of the RegisteredNurse, thesterilization technician/instrument technicianis responsible forprocessing instrument trays and other supplies necessary for surgical procedures.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    + Cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and organizing surgical instruments and supplies following safety standards

    + Monitoring sterilization cycles, documenting results, and resolving issues promptly to deliver on our commitment to safe, high-quality care

    + Preparing and organizing instrument trays and surgical rooms based on the daily schedule and procedural needs

    + Safely handling and disposing of biohazardous materials while keeping the work area clean and organized

    + Working closely with nurses and surgeons to anticipate needs and support smooth, efficient surgeries

    PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

    •All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.

    •Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.

    •Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period.

    •During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).

    •Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.

    •Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy.

    •Seasonal Staff willnotbe eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND or D2/ECD)

    •Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.

    •Current FT/PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligibleto join the Seasonal program for 2025--26 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year.

    •Current employees of HWS arenot eligiblefor the seasonal program.

    •Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + National certification with International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) within 12 months of hire, required.Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

    + Previous experience in surgical environment preferred

    + +1 year acute care in area of experience required
