    Department: IMAGING CENTER

    Job Summary

    Under the direction of a radiologist, performs radiographic mammography at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.

     

    Core Job Responsibilities

     

    + Perform a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis

    + Assume responsibility for specified radiographic mammography as required

    + May have individual responsibility for specified radiographic procedures and/or may be assigned duties as an instructor

    + Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients

    + Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure

    + Assists in maintaining basic records and reports

    + Assists in maintaining files

    + Performs daily quality assurance procedures in the mammography area

    + Perform other duties as required.

     

    Education/Experience Requirements

    Required:

    + High school diploma or equivalent

    + Satisfactory completion of formal Medical Radiography training in an AMA approved school and meets the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

    Preferred:

    + 2-3 years job related experience

     

    Licensure/Certification Requirements

    Required:

    + New York State license for practice in Medical Radiography

    + Certified in Mammography by the ARRT

    + ACR certification
