    Description

    AWS’ Infrastructure Physical Security Team is looking for a Data Center Security Manager with experience working in critical infrastructure installations, ideally data centers.

     

    As a Data Center Security Manager you will be tasked with driving operational security excellence in several facilities located within a short driving distance. Your vigilance will drive a culture of quality and support proactive identification of physical security vulnerabilities for remediation. You will interface and direct security vendors involved in new security construction, repairs, daily security operations, patrols, and planning. You will extract metrics and observe improvements by looking at hard data available. You will advise and recommend security systems improvements and design and will lead security awareness training for data center occupants. You will write and implement security procedures and directorates, reports, develop presentations, and advise leadership on the status of physical security operations.

     

    Key job responsibilities

     

    - Lead daily operational security across a data center campus

     

    - Drive security awareness campaigns aimed at enhancing security vigilance and effectiveness

     

    - Experience with workflow ticketing and extraction/development of performance metrics

     

    - Lead security investigations across campus facilities

     

    - Oversee physical security vendors that provide guards, electronic security systems, door construction/repair, fencing, and access controls

     

    - Distill overarching security strategy into daily tactics to reach management goals

     

    - Oversee security construction projects

     

    - Provide security awareness training to data center personnel

    - As this is a GovCloud region, the selected candidate requires US Citizenship or equivalent status

    A day in the life

     

    Program Management Activities

     

    Lead cross-functional security initiatives and strategic projects across multiple facilities

     

    Develop and maintain security program roadmaps and implementation timelines

     

    Coordinate with regional teams on standardization of security processes and procedures

     

    Track program metrics, KPIs, and deliverables through project management platforms

     

    Facilitate stakeholder meetings and communicate program status to leadership

     

    Vendor Management and Procurement

     

    Oversee contract security force performance and service level agreements

     

    Manage relationships with security technology vendors and service providers

     

    Review and approve vendor quotes for security system repairs and upgrades

     

    Coordinate Purchase Order (PO) creation and budget management for security services

     

    Conduct vendor performance evaluations and contract compliance reviewsSecurity System Review and Incident Response

     

    Review overnight security incidents and alarm reports from contract security personnel

     

    Analyze CCTV footage and security system alerts through monitoring platforms

     

    Respond to any escalated security incidents requiring immediate attention

     

    Coordinate with Security Operations Center for 24/7 monitoring updates

     

    Daily Stakeholder Coordination

     

    Conduct morning briefings with security supervisors and personnel

     

    Review daily activity reports and compliance with security procedures

     

    Coordinate with data center operations and engineering teams on planned maintenance activities requiring security support

     

    Business Partner Support and Approvals

     

    Process secure area access requests and checkpoint approvals

     

    Review and approve facility recording requests for infrared scanning and photography

     

    Manage security system masking/unmasking requests for maintenance activities

     

    Conduct meetings with infrastructure delivery, logistics, and decommission teams

     

    Construction and New Build Activities

     

    Participate in milestone walk-downs for ongoing construction projects

     

    Review physical security design standard compliance during construction phases

     

    Coordinate with security program managers on security installations and programming

     

    Manage secure zone operations during construction phases

     

    Audit and Compliance Activities

     

    Conduct weekly building, campus, and perimeter inspections

     

    Perform monthly security equipment calibration audits

     

    Execute security checkpoint assessment testing with approved test devices

     

    Review and update security compliance documentation in management platforms

     

    Repair and Maintenance Coordination

     

    Troubleshoot malfunctioning security devices (cameras, door mechanisms, card readers)

     

    Coordinate with vendors for security system repairs and programming

     

    Create and manage repair tickets through ticketing systems

     

    Oversee change management processes for security-related work

     

    Secure Operations Management

     

    Oversee secure media destruction events and disposal procedures

     

    Manage two-person verification compliance for sensitive operations

     

    Coordinate secure equipment transfers and handling procedures

     

    Review and approve secure area exit workflows for decommissioned equipment

     

    Investigation and Incident Management

     

    Conduct security investigations including media reconciliation procedures

     

    Document findings and coordinate with investigation teams

     

    Manage security audit findings and remediation efforts

     

    Coordinate with legal, HR, and management on sensitive security matters

    Basic Qualifications

    - 4+ years overseeing security operations

     

    - 4+ years Project Management experience

     

    - 4+ years working with security vendors and contractors

     

    - 3+ years creating process improvement procedure

     

    - 3+ years in Program Management /Vendor Management.

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent professional experience in corporate or government security environment with excellent verbal and written communications skills in a professional work setting

     

    - 4+ years writing detailed reports

     

    - 3+ years of overseeing security vendors that provide guards and electronic security systems

     

    - 2+ years of root-cause analysis experience

     

    - 2+ years creating and implementing emergency planning programs and physical security countermeasures

     

    - Familiarity with security program automation, implementation and various Access/Intrusion Control Systems

     

    - Ability to interpret program objectives, develop project schedules and manage adherence to established timetables

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $72,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $154,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
