JOB SUMMARY
The Accounting Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate financial and inventory records for Johnson Thermal Systems (JTS). This position serves as a key link between the Accounting and Warehouse departments, ensuring that all inventory movements are properly recorded, reconciled, and reported. The role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and collaboration with warehouse staff to support operational efficiency and financial accuracy.
Responsibilities:
+ Reconcile inventory balances between accounting records and physical counts.
+ Monitor daily inventory transactions, including receipts, adjustments, transfers, and returns.
+ Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies with warehouse personnel and purchasing.
+ Prepare monthly inventory valuation reports and journal entries.
+ Direct cycle count and year-end physical inventory processes.
+ Assist in maintaining proper cost accounting for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
+ Collaborate with warehouse teams to ensure proper documentation for incoming and outgoing materials.
+ Verify accuracy of bills of materials (BOMs) and work orders.
+ Assist with tracking inventory across multiple locations or departments.
+ Help implement and maintain inventory control systems and procedures.
+ Provide accounting support for shipping, receiving, and material handling activities.
+ Generate regular reports on inventory levels, variances, and trends.
+ Provide data analysis to support purchasing, production, and financial forecasting.
+ Work closely with operations and finance teams to ensure accurate costing and margin analysis.
Required Knowledge/Experience:
+ Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
+ 2+ years of experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, or warehouse-related finance.
+ Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments preferred.
Required Skill/Abilities:
+ Strong understanding of accounting principles and inventory management.
+ Proficient in ERP or inventory management systems (such as NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
+ Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
+ Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with both accounting and warehouse teams.
+ Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to accuracy and efficiency.
