    As a member of the ETC System Maintenance team, this role supports the Golden Gate Bridge’s Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) System 2.0. The technician will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance across host and lane systems, ensuring system availability, transaction accuracy, and compliance with performance KPIs.

     

    This role requires proficiency in troubleshooting networked systems, interpreting diagnostic alerts, and maintaining physical tolling infrastructure components including AVI readers, ALPR cameras, DVAS systems, and lane controllers. Technicians will also manage inventory using Jira Asset Management and respond to emergency incidents per the District’s protocols.

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

    + Schedule is regular business hours with availability for 24x7x365 on-call support

    + Valid Driver’s License

    + Ability to work at heights (bucket trucks, ladders)

    + Strong documentation and reporting skills

    + Familiarity with emergency response protocols

    + Ability to work independently with remote management and within cross-functional teams

    SKILL REQUIREMENTS – ABLE TO USE:

    + Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, Word, and Internet Browser

    + Jira Service Desk or equivalent, for management of tasks, issues, and inventory/asset management

    + OpManager, PEM EDB, AWS Console, ManageEngine Log360

    + Common hand and power tools

    + Diagnostic equipment (multimeters, RF meters, etc.)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Perform preventive maintenance on lane and host systems per schedule

    + Respond to MOMS maintenance alerts and Jira tickets within SLA timelines, including 24x7x365 response for critical issues

    + Conduct predictive maintenance using alarm and transaction log analysis

    + Maintain and update system firmware, software, and SSL certificates

    + Perform visual inspections of equipment indicators and infrastructure

    + Manage spare parts inventory and asset lifecycle in Jira

    + Support emergency lane closures and equipment replacements

    + Participate in KPI audits (Transaction Accuracy, ALPR Yield, VCR Accuracy)

    + Submit monthly O&M reports detailing maintenance activities and system performance

    + Coordinate with District staff, eShop, and Sergeant’s Office for lane access and closures

    Required qualifications:

    + Technical education or military training in electronics, IT, or mechanical systems

    + Familiarity with network protocols, database integrity, and system monitoring

    + Ability to interpret schematics and maintenance manuals

    Preferred qualifications:

    + 1+ years’ experience with tolling systems or similar infrastructure/technical systems

    + Experience with Linux-based software systems

    + OSHA certification(s). If the employee does not have them, you may be required to undergo company-sponsored certification program(s)

    **PHYSICAL DEMANDS:** To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, Employee must possess the ability to work in a standard office or conference room setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer. Employee must also possess the ability to work at roadside locations when overseeing or performing hands-on maintenance tasks, including the ability to use maintenance vehicles such as bucket trucks. Employee must be able to lift and carry up to fifty pounds.

    **WORK ENVIRONMENT:** A mixture of on-site maintenance work and working out of a local maintenance facility. If work is performed in the office, it is in an air-conditioned building. Potential for high noise level due to proximity to high-speed traffic and equipment rooms. Safety protocols and equipment will be provided as needed to mitigate these types of risks.

    + Work in outdoor environments and roadside locations

    + Exposure to high-speed traffic and equipment noise

    + Use of bucket trucks and ladders up to 40 ft

    + Office work in climate-controlled settings

    + Must pass background and motor vehicle checks
