    Position Title:Student Success and Engagement Specialist

     

    Job Group:Professional & Scientific

     

    Required Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience

     

    Preferred Qualifications:• Advanced degree in higher education or a related field.

     

    • Experience supporting first-year undergraduate student transition and academic success.

    • Experience managing undergraduate learning community programs - including developing class curriculum, peer mentor hiring, supervision and professional development, and budgeting.

    •Demonstrated leadership of large or complex groups, including interdepartmental staff.

    • Experience with student information systems (e.g., Workday).

    Job Description:

    This Student Success and Engagement Specialist coordinates the College of Engineering’s Learning Community Program, collaborates on student success and retention initiatives, provides support for orientation activities as well as academic advising and academic standards communications.

    What You’ll Do:

    Student Success and Retention Initiatives

    • Collaborate on the planning, implementation, and assessment of student success and retention programs for engineering students.

    • Support the development and delivery of initiatives that promote academic achievement, engagement, and belonging within the Learning Community Program.

    • Partner with other departments to increase support to 1st and 2nd year undergraduate students.

    • Provide connections and academic success programming to support College 2+2 transfer student initiatives.

    Orientation support and Academic Advising

    • Assist with new student orientation activities for incoming engineering students.

    • Provide presentations, guidance, and resources to new students and their families.

    • Coordinate with departmental advisors to ensure smooth academic advising and registration processes.

    • Provide academic advising and class registration to incoming undeclared engineering students.

    Coordination of College Learning Community Programs

    • Coordinate the College of Engineering Learning Community Program

    • Partner with central LC administration to oversee all administrative processes associated with the College of Engineering Learning Community Programs

    • Oversee the approval of all academic course grids (fall and spring) submitted by each academic department, coordinate with the registrar for LC seat release management for summer orientation

    • Chair College of Engineering Learning Community committee and provide monthly professional development meetings for engineering department coordinators

    • Serve as the College of Engineering representative on the campus Learning Community Committee

    • Coordinate and report on data analytics related to student success and Learning Community enrollments

    Coordination of the Undeclared Learning Community Program

    • Coordinate the ENGSS Undeclared Learning Community servicing over 300 students annually

    • Hire, supervise, train 20 undergraduate peer mentors; coordinate training, professional development and supervision for peer mentors

    • Submit all required administrative materials including fall and spring course grids, annual reports, budget and RFP for 20 undeclared learning communities

    • Oversee course logistics and syllabus development for Engr 1310 and manage budget associated with peer mentor expenditures for programming

    Academic Standards Communications for College of Engineering

    • Responsible for student academic standards petition administration

    • Responsible for providing student academic standards communications for petition decisions

    • Responsible for student academic dismissal communications and reinstated student outcome decisions
