Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic in Arizona is seeking a medical Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our nationally recognized team. This position requires advanced clinical expertise in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of speech, language, cognitive, swallowing, and voice disorders. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the SLP will contribute to patient-centered care through evidence-based assessment and intervention in alignment with Mayo Clinic’s high standards of excellence, including the opportunity to serve as a clinical instructor for graduate students in speech pathology, clinical fellows, and other medical professionals. Depending on departmental assignment, the role includes specialized responsibilities and competencies tailored to patient populations within Neurology or Otorhinolaryngology.
Qualifications
+ Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology educational program.
+ Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
+ Licensed as an SLP in the state of Arizona.
+ Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
For the Department of Neurology, the following are preferred qualifications:
+ Strong clinical skills and experience evaluating and treating medically complex adults and adults with neurogenic communication impairments -including aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, and cognitive-communication deficits- as well as strong clinical skills and experience with evaluation and treatment of dysphagia.
+ Independence in performing Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies (VFSS)
+ Independence in administering Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
+ Experience with Respiratory Muscle Strength Training (RMST) as part of dysphagia or dysarthria intervention.
+ Specifically for positions offered in the Acute Care setting, prior hospital experience is preferred, with strong clinical skills in managing highly medically complex patients, ICU and PCU level of care, trach/vent management, instrumental swallowing assessments and dysphagia intervention, RMT, as well as strong written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ Specifically for positions offered in the Outpatient Clinic setting, prior experience, and participation in specialty clinics (i.e., ALS, DBS) as well as experience or interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems for adult populations is highly encouraged.
