    Job Summary

    The Project Clerk supports the project team on heavy civil construction projects by assisting with construction administration, planning, scheduling, cost control, procurement, and safety-related tasks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and possesses strong problem-solving skills. This role is essential to the success of both individual projects and the broader organization.

    Main Responsibilities

    + Support the project team with construction administration, procurement, scheduling, and cost management.

    + Prepare project submittals in accordance with specification requirements, including coordination of subcontractor submittals.

    + Collaborate with the team to track project quantities, develop pay estimates, create cash forecasts, and produce weekly cost reports.

    + Communicate effectively with project personnel, subcontractors, and owner representatives.

    + Promote and uphold a culture of safe work practices in alignment with Colaska’s policies and Goal Zero principles.

    + Travel to and work at remote sites within Southeast Alaska communities may be required.

    + Must be available to work weekends (Saturdays and Sundays); typical weekly hours may meet or exceed 60 hours.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    Experience & Qualifications

     

    + Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

    + Self-motivated with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

    + Proficient in MS Office, Adobe, Bluebeam, and other construction-related software.

    + Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specifications, and relevant policies or regulations.

    + Skilled in writing diaries, reports, business correspondence, and presenting information to other employees.

    + Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in the construction industry, preferably in heavy civil construction.

    + Experience with Alaska Department of Transportation or Western Federal Lands projects is preferred.

    + Valid driver’s license required.

    + CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

    + MSHA certification required.

    + OSHA 10-hour certification required.

    Physical Requirements

    + Must pass drug screening and a Physical Abilities Test (PAT).

    + Ability to exert 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.

    + Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    + Regular exposure to typical construction site conditions and all weather environments
