    Description

    We are looking for an experienced Technical Accounting Manager with a strong background in nonprofit and government accounting to join our team on a contract basis. This role will focus on ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and grant interpretation for our nonprofit organization. Based in Los Angeles, California, this remote position offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work while leveraging your technical expertise.

    Responsibilities:

    • Analyze and interpret grant agreements, documenting key terms and ensuring compliance with financial reporting guidelines.

    • Examine the general ledger to verify accurate recording of grant-related transactions, identifying and correcting any discrepancies.

    • Review financial statements in NetSuite to confirm proper classification and address material weaknesses from recent audit findings.

    • Conduct sample reviews of financial statements to pinpoint inaccuracies and implement corrective measures.

    • Manage nonprofit accounting and reporting processes, ensuring compliance with year-end requirements.

    • Oversee month-end close procedures, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and journal entries are properly recorded.

    • Collaborate on financial statement audits to address identified issues and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

    • Monitor federal grant accounting processes to ensure adherence to Single Audit requirements.

    • Provide technical accounting expertise to enhance the organization's financial accuracy and reporting capabilities.

     

    Requirements • Minimum of 10 years of experience in nonprofit and government accounting.

     

    • Expertise in month-end close processes, general ledger management, and account reconciliation.

    • Strong understanding of financial statement audits and compliance requirements.

    • Proficiency in interpreting grant agreements and ensuring proper recording in financial systems.

    • Hands-on experience with NetSuite and other accounting software.

    • Knowledge of Single Audit requirements for nonprofit organizations.

    • Advanced skills in technical accounting and financial reporting.

    • Ability to identify and resolve material weaknesses in financial statements.
