Description We are looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team in San Bruno, California. This is a long-term contract position, offering an excellent opportunity to manage and oversee payroll operations for a dynamic organization. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in payroll systems and processes, ensuring timely and accurate compensation while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Process and manage payroll operations for employees, including regular, supplemental, and early release payrolls.

• Conduct audits and verify timesheets, salary adjustments, leave balances, overtime, and deductions.

• Ensure adherence to payroll-related policies, labor laws, and tax regulations.

• Address payroll-related inquiries and provide guidance on pay rates, taxes, leave accruals, deductions, and retirement contributions.

• Maintain accurate financial records for payroll, benefits, garnishments, and retirement systems.

• Input and update employee data in payroll systems, including tax status, benefits, and union affiliations.

• Generate detailed reports and spreadsheets using payroll software and Microsoft Excel.

• Manage the issuance of paychecks and direct deposit accounts.

• Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to resolve payroll discrepancies.

• Stay informed of changes to contracts, labor laws, and payroll regulations. Requirements

• Comprehensive knowledge of payroll processing, retirement systems, and accounting principles.

• Familiarity with tax laws, deductions, benefits, and compliance standards.

• Proficiency with payroll software systems, Escape/Frontline, and Microsoft Excel.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll or clerical accounting.

• High school diploma required; college coursework in Accounting or related field preferred.

• Ability to reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies with accuracy and efficiency.

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.

• Excellent communication skills and professionalism when interacting with staff and stakeholders.
