Description We are looking for an experienced Applications Architect to join our team on a long-term contract basis. This role is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and focuses on shaping integration strategies within the retail industry. As a key contributor, you will design scalable solutions, modernize legacy systems, and drive the adoption of advanced architectural practices.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of integration architectures to enhance operational efficiency and unlock new opportunities.

• Design and implement a streaming-first model for data production, transport, and consumption across enterprise zones.

• Collaborate with peer architects to establish standards for streaming patterns and service operation.

• Prototype and validate architectural patterns to ensure performance, operability, and scalability.

• Modernize existing point-to-point integration systems by transitioning to data-producing and event-driven models.

• Define deployment strategies for local applications on Kubernetes, ensuring reliable interaction with PLCs and IIoT devices.

• Establish reusable components and patterns for producer–consumer and publish–subscribe semantics.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align objectives and navigate complex organizational environments.

• Create comprehensive documentation, decision records, and playbooks to support delivery teams. Requirements • Proven expertise as a Principal-level Architect, specifically in large-scale streaming systems.

• Extensive experience with producer–consumer and publish–subscribe patterns, including schema evolution and observability.

• Hands-on work with event streaming platforms like Kafka or Kinesis in production environments.

• Proficiency in Go programming with the ability to mentor others in developing performant, concurrent systems.

• Strong practical knowledge of Kubernetes for deploying and managing local and edge services.

• Experience integrating with AWS technologies such as Glue and S3 in event-driven architectures.

• Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders without direct authority. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
