Job Title: Controls Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled PLC/Controls Technician for a hybrid role that supports the mechanical maintenance of our facility. The ideal candidate must possess intermediate knowledge of PLC systems and be adept at working with them.

Responsibilities

+ Participate in the installation, alteration, repair, and maintenance of industrial electrical systems, motors, generators, fixtures, appliances, and mechanical equipment.

+ Maintain and alter electrical systems, and locate and correct power failures and motor troubles.

+ Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on PLC systems.

+ Conduct breakdown analysis and oversee general housekeeping.

+ Upgrade production lines with new or improved equipment/technology and perform package changeovers.

+ Modify, maintain, or repair electronics equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning.

+ Replace defective components or parts using hand tools and precision instruments.

+ Setup and operate specialized or standard test equipment to diagnose, test, or analyze the performance of electronic components, assemblies, or systems.

+ Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions.

Essential Skills

+ Experience with CMMS (SAP) Systems.

+ Knowledge of basic and advanced electrical systems, including 3 phase, 480V, 120V, and 24V controls.

+ Proficiency in electronics such as level probes, flow meters, and VFDs.

+ Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and use a multimeter.

+ Competence in using RS Logix 5000, RS Logix 500, or RS Logix 5 software for machine troubleshooting.

+ Experience in PLC programming and automation controls.

+ Capability to work online with Control Logix, Compact Logix, SLC500, or PLC5 using various interfaces.

+ Experience in downloading PLC programs as necessary.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Aptitude for further technical skills development.

+ Experience in replacing and configuring AB Powerflex and Yaskawa VFDs.

+ Ability to replace components and download applications using Panelbuilder 32 and RS View Studio Machine Edition.

Work Environment

The position operates on a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a flexible schedule. The shift is from 5am-5pm, following a 2 off, 3 on, 3 off rotation. The plant runs 7 days a week, including holidays.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
