Job Title: Packaging Supervisor

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Packaging Supervisor to oversee the efficient operation of our packaging line. Working from 6 AM to 2:30 PM, you will play a crucial role in coordinating with the VP of Manufacturing & Operations to ensure that our manufacturing plans are executed smoothly. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

+ Coordinate with the VP of Manufacturing & Operations on management and scheduling of the manufacturing plan.

+ Provide leadership and direction to the Chocolate Production Associate on scheduling and completion of the manufacturing plan.

+ Validate that all manufacturing equipment is in proper working and food safety condition before and after manufacturing runs.

+ Manage associated paperwork to ensure that all process controls are being implemented and validated in line with manufacturing standards.

+ Coordinate with the VP of Manufacturing & Operations on the management of all Work Order, Line Lot Log, and other system documentation.

+ Verify that de-molded products meet all specifications such as correct appearance, weight, and correct packaging.

+ Operate or assist with wrapping machines, grinding equipment for shredding chocolate bars, and bagging equipment.

+ Execute assigned tasks as efficiently as possible while ensuring quality and safety procedures.

+ Ensure excess materials from work orders are returned to the warehouse designated area.

+ Ensure unwrapped chocolate is shrink-wrapped or covered on the rack.

+ Monitor equipment to ensure good working order and report any problems to management or maintenance as needed.

+ Ensure that employees without authorization never attempt to repair equipment.

+ Ensure that Quality Assurance, Sanitation, and Safety standards are consistently met.

+ Responsible for sanitation and clean-up at the beginning, during, and at the end of the shift.

+ Verify and clearly label all products.

+ Communicate and implement company policies and procedures.

+ Make recommendations and suggestions to management regarding improvements in efficiencies, packaging, quality, workflow, etc., as observed.

Essential Skills

+ Strong packaging and production skills.

+ Supervisory and management skills.

+ Experience with packaging lines, supply chain, and logistics.

Work Environment

The position involves working both inside and outside the production floor, with regular interaction with machinery, moving ladders, and pallet jacks. You will work in hot, cold, wet, and noisy environments. The role requires frequent standing, walking, and occasional climbing, with some tasks requiring stooping, bending, and balancing.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Berkeley, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $33.00/hr.
