    Job Title: Animal Care Technician

    Job Description

    As an Animal Care Technician, you will be gaining foundational skills necessary to support study requirements. This includes animal husbandry, handling and restraint, maintaining housing, feeding procedures, data collection, health status observation, and body weight measurement.

    Responsibilities

    + Ensure good welfare and humane care for all animals through gentle and positive interactions.

    + Perform department-specific basic skills such as animal handling/restraint, housing maintenance, and feeding procedures.

    + Collect, document, review, and verify data using forms or electronic data capture systems.

    + Review documentation of performed functions as part of quality control.

    + Use and maintain instrumentation and equipment.

    + Clean and sanitize animal cages and related items.

    + Perform routine maintenance checks on automated cage wash machines.

    + Prepare housing for new animals and assist with receiving them.

    + Report equipment repair needs to appropriate personnel.

    + Sanitize floors, walls, and surfaces in the cage wash and lab areas.

    + Maintain a clean and organized cage wash and storage area.

    + Complete animal care duties such as changing liners and sanitizing room walls and floors.

    + Receive, store, and distribute animal husbandry supplies.

    + Perform limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments as appropriate.

    + Prepare environmental enrichment items and operate basic lab equipment.

    + Prepare study and colony supplies as needed.

    + High School diploma or General Education Degree preferred

    + Problem-solving skills

    + Ability to make quick decisions and communicate effectively

    + Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and extra shifts

    + Ability to work under time constraints

    Work Environment

    The position offers four weeks of training with a trainer. The work schedule may begin between 6 am and 9 am, and there is the possibility of working one weekend day. The facility provides scrubs and shoes.

    This is a Contract position.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
