    Job Title: Data Engineer

    Description

    - Implements small features and resolves common data-related bugs from a prioritized team backlog, under direction from technical lead, manager, or product owner.

     

    - Develops individual, well-defined components of larger, more complex data solutions.

     

    - Investigates data quality issues reported by customers, peers, and other departments.

     

    - Creates or maintains non-critical data support tools to improve reliability and efficiency.

     

    - Modifies, debugs, and maintains data pipelines and ETL processes.

     

    - Thoroughly tests new and existing data features and pipelines.

     

    - Provides documentation for data processes and tools.

     

    - Creates automated tests for new and existing data components.

     

    - Integrates data solutions with those developed by other engineers.

     

    - Works closely with technical leads and other engineers to develop technical designs for data solutions.

     

    - Gains concrete understanding of assigned tasks and corresponding areas of code/data.

     

    - Accesses and updates existing code bases and data repositories using version control systems.

     

    - Manages work assignments via an issue tracking system.

     

    - Participates in code and data pipeline reviews.

     

    - Attends department and product team meetings to obtain and communicate relevant information.

     

    - Follows processes, procedures, and standards as defined by the team, department, company, or regulatory agencies (e.g., data governance, privacy regulations).

     

    - Implements features and resolves data bugs independently from a prioritized backlog.

     

    - Researches and contributes technical solutions for data engineering challenges.

     

    - Works closely with product and engineering teams to provide input on overall data architecture and product design.

     

    - Creates or maintains support tools critical to data reliability and efficiency.

     

    - Provides technical assistance to software, hardware, QA, and manufacturing teams regarding data integration.

     

    - Demonstrates completed data engineering work to stakeholders (e.g., sprint demos).

     

    - Breaks down complex tasks into simpler components.

     

    - Architects data solutions for changing requirements.

     

    - Packages and distributes data tools for use in QA and production environments.

     

    - Contributes to code and data pipeline reviews; communicates issues identified in merge requests.

     

    - Expands knowledge of recent developments in data engineering and AI.

     

    - Supplies technical feedback to evaluate feasibility of product definitions.

     

    - Initiates and maintains communications with stakeholders to establish and clarify data requirements.

     

    - Coordinates with software, hardware, and firmware engineers to ensure data compatibility.

     

    - Maintains strong relationships with frequent collaborators.

     

    Skills & Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    - Capable of solving data engineering problems.

     

    - General knowledge of computer systems, programming, and data management, with continual improvement.

     

    - Ability to work well in a team environment.

     

    - Strong attention to detail.

     

    - Ability to communicate status and ask for help.

     

    - B.A./B.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent degree/work experience.

     

    - 3/5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or related field.

    PREFERRED:

    - Applicable programming languages (e.g., Python, PyTorch, SQL, Scala)

     

    - Data engineering tools and frameworks (e.g., Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Snowflake)

    - Git

    - Issue tracking systems (e.g., Jira)

     

    - Command-line interfaces and tools

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
