    Job Title: Field EngineerJob Description

     

    The Field Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the superintendent in front-line field management. This position requires the individual to exercise judgment and discretion in making recommendations, implementing policies, and handling various field matters. The Field Engineer is pivotal in project layout, trade worker supervision, and ensuring safety and quality control on the project site.

    Responsibilities

    + Conduct project layout (surveying) in accordance with design and contract documents.

    + Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy before concrete placement.

    + Perform production trend analysis for work quantities and report for weekly and monthly schedule and cost control.

    + Assist in quality control, site safety initiatives, and coordination of trade partners as delegated by the project superintendent.

    + Coordinate material deliveries, inspect materials for quality and condition, and report on discrepancies.

    + Assist foremen and trade partners with interpretation of plans and specifications.

    + Oversee and direct trade partners and workforce to gain supervisory experience.

    + Participate in jobsite safety meetings and weekly safety audits.

    + Coordinate during project schedule development and review construction drawings and specifications.

    + Perform civil and structural constructability analysis and provide feedback.

    + Assist in project layout planning, site planning, and development of the FEA List.

    + Verify control points and benchmarks established by third-party licensed surveyors.

    + Attend subcontractor coordination meetings and verify site utility structures, elevations, and run locations.

    + Verify layout for concrete, steel, MEP, and architectural elements.

    + Compile field engineering specific as-builts and turnover documentation.

    + Maintain control and care of field engineering equipment and assist with project closeout documentation.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency with Trimble GPS and Carlson Survey software.

    + Experience with robotics, particularly Trimble S5 (4+ years of experience).

    + Ability to interpret and verify construction drawings across disciplines.

    + Deep understanding of civil and structural systems for constructability analysis.

    + Knowledge of plumbing, drainage, and utility systems.

    + Familiarity with foundation systems, including piers and grade beams.

    + Understanding of tilt wall systems and erection tolerances.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + OSHA 10 Certification.

    + Experience in site layout and verification of elevations, lines, and grades.

    + Proficiency in verifying anchor bolts, embeds, and structural alignment.

    + Ensuring MEP leave-outs and penetrations align with drawings.

    Work Environment

    The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7 am to 4 pm, with occasional Saturdays as needed. The role provides access to mileage reimbursement during contract terms and a company truck upon direct hire.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, Texas.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
