We are seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to lead a team of 5-15 technicians operating production equipment and executing processes across multiple shifts. You will ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols while driving operational excellence.
Responsibilities
+ Supervise a team of technicians across multiple shifts, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
+ Monitor and optimize equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and escalate as needed to engineering or maintenance.
+ Drive daily stand-up meetings, shift handoffs, and communication flow between teams.
+ Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
+ Mentor and evaluate technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and teamwork.
+ Partner with HR and operations leadership to hire, train, and onboard new technicians as the team expands.
+ Track and report on key metrics such as yield, downtime, scrap, throughput, and labor efficiency.
+ Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean manufacturing practices and root cause analysis.
+ Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to support new process introductions, equipment qualification, and scaling to higher volumes.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of experience in production, manufacturing, or operations in high-tech industries such as automotive, battery, semiconductors, electronics, or similar.
+ Prior experience supervising or leading teams of technicians/operators in a multi-shift environment.
+ Excellent communication skills to articulate expectations, deliver feedback, and bridge information across functions.
+ Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and safety practices.
+ Ability to interpret process documentation, engineering specifications, and quality standards.
+ Demonstrated success in developing teams through coaching, mentoring, and using problem-solving tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, and root cause analysis.
+ Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S) is strongly preferred.
+ Attention to detail and commitment to build quality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Prior hands-on experience in a shop, production, or assembly environment is preferred.
+ Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving startup-like environment.
+ A hands-on leadership style with a focus on accountability, safety, and commitment to feedback and continuous improvement.
+ Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing priorities and willingly take on tasks that support broader company goals.
+ Comfort working in fast-paced, team-oriented settings.
Work Environment
This position is onsite in Berkeley. The work environment is fast-paced and team-oriented, requiring adaptability and a collaborative mindset to thrive.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Berkeley, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
