Job Title: Environmental ScientistJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Scientist to join our team. This role involves a blend of fieldwork and office-based tasks, offering opportunities for career growth and professional development.

Responsibilities

+ Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), including site inspections, historical research, and database reviews, in accordance with ASTM standards.

+ Perform Phase II ESAs, including soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling, and coordinate field investigations.

+ Analyze environmental data, interpret laboratory results, and prepare comprehensive technical reports.

+ Identify Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) and recommend steps for site remediation or further assessment.

+ Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance and success.

+ Manage multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met effectively.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field.

+ 2-5 years of experience in environmental consulting or site assessments.

+ Familiarity with ASTM E1527-21 standards and environmental regulations such as CERCLA and RCRA.

+ Strong technical writing skills with experience preparing ESA reports.

+ Ability to interpret laboratory data and make practical recommendations.

+ Proficiency in GIS and Microsoft Office tools.

+ Strong communication and project management skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.

+ OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or willingness to obtain.

Work Environment

Enjoy a flexible work environment with a mix of 1-2 days per week on-site sampling and the option to work remotely on other days. The position offers a small company and family-oriented atmosphere, with opportunities to learn directly from seasoned professionals with over 50 years of combined experience in the environmental industry. Expect an 80/20 split between technical writing and fieldwork, providing a great chance to network and grow within the industry.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Roseland, New Jersey.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $43.27/hr.
