Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Responsibilities VA Careers - Physical Therapy: https://youtube.com/embed/Gi2hoFqIoqY This position serves as a Physical Therapist, Pelvic Health Clinical Specialist, in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service (PM&R) at the Harry S. Truman VA Medical Center, Columbia, MO. The incumbent Physical Therapist is assigned responsibility for serving as the subject matter expert in Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy. The duties of the position include but are not limited to: independently providing assessment and treatment interventions to inpatients and outpatients received through healthcare providers and patient self-referrals establishing a diagnosis within the scope of physical therapy formulating a treatment plan and goals, and being responsible for implementation, modification, and documentation of treatment performing and interpreting specialized evaluative procedures and tests in pelvic health conditions developing, coordinating, and implementing highly specialized treatment programs within his/her assigned clinic, based on best practices for patient/client management, to relieve pain, restore or enhance performance, and maximize independence in functional abilities recognizing the appropriateness of responses to treatment based on indications, precautions, and contraindications maintaining timely data input utilizing care plans, initial assessments and/or specialty protocols as part of an ongoing process in coordination with other key interdisciplinary staff to provide effective patient care serving as a mentor to other therapists/students in the evaluation and treatment in the areas of pelvic health therapy developing and coordinating clinical education programs with evidence of advanced experience in clinical education designing, conducting, and evaluating educational experiences within specialty content area for staff members, taking an active role in literature searches, and seek educational opportunities to enhance the Physical Therapy Department, PM&RS, and the Medical Center developing and providing timely reports to the Supervisor, Rehabilitation Section Chief and Chief of PM&R performing competent written documentation of initial examinations, progress notes, and discharge summaries performing other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor that are consistent with the mission of the section, care line and facility Work Schedule: M, Tu, Th, Fr: 8a-4:30p, W: 8a-12p (36 hours per week) Telework: Not available Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Language: Must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with the VA Handbook, 5005, Chapter 2, section D, paragraph 5a. Licensure: Individuals hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Education and experience. NOTE: Individuals must be a graduate of a Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) accredited college or university (transcript required). Experience. Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy AND five (5) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist. OR Master's degree in Physical Therapy AND two (2) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist. OR Doctorate degree in physical therapy. Grade Determinations: Physical Therapist (Clinical Specialist) - Geriatric GS-0633-13 In addition to meeting the basic requirements, one year of progressively complex experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level and one of the following: Evidence of a minimum of 2,000 hours of clinical practice directly in the specialty area. This time must be between the past two and five years; OR Board Certification in the specialty area recognized by the ABPTS; OR Completion of a fellowship program; OR An additional advanced degree in a related field. GS-13 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. At this level, candidates must also demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Advanced knowledge and expert skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in a specialized treatment area of physical therapy. Ability to serve as a consultant and subject matter expert for health care providers regarding the delivery of care within a specialized content area of physical therapy (see paragraph 2i). Ability to teach and mentor medical center staff in a specialized content area of physical therapy. Ability to guide the work of a multi-disciplinary team in a specialized content area of physical therapy. Advanced knowledge and expert skill to perform and interpret specialized procedures and tests in evaluating the treatment outcomes in the assigned specialty content area (see Definitions, paragraph 2. i.). Preferred Experience: Five years experience treating male and female pelvic health conditions, experience with sexual dysfunction, and either WCS or PRPC certification. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-13 . Physical Requirements: The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to walk, to get to other hospital locations on a daily basis, standing, repeated bending, reaching overhead, and pushing Veterans and objects for up to four hours a regular shift, prolonged sitting, moderate lifting and carrying of 15-44 pounds.
