    We are seeking a **Staff Software Engineer** to lead technical strategy and execution across the **Client Data Exchange Solutions (CDES)** space. This role is pivotal in managing development, operations, and support for a variety of data input and output services. You will collaborate closely with technical leaders across CDES , Adjudication, and Data & Analytics teams to align business goals with a multi-year roadmap that supports enterprise strategic objectives.

     

    This is a high-impact role for a candidate who thrives in cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and technical leadership. You will work directly with senior business stakeholders , Product Managers, and Engineering teams to drive innovation and modernization across platforms.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Lead complex, high-visibility projects and provide technical vision across CDES.

    + Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams to align on goals and deliverables.

    + Design and implement scalable data provisioning solutions using ETL, cloud technologies, real-time streaming pipelines, and CI/CD.

    + Provide thought leadership on modernization, transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

    + Utilize AI to enhance and optimize existing processes.

    + Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative, inclusive team environment.

    + Author and promote best practices across engineering teams.

    + Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

    + Guide teams in decision-making and agile ways of working.

    Required Qualifications

    + 7+ years of experience in software/data product delivery, including designing and deploying production-ready systems.

    + 5+ years of experience in ETL/ELT development.

    + 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS).

    + 3+ years of experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins).

    + Proficiency in modern programming languages (Java, Python, FastAPI, Go).

    + Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, Azure SQL) and NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB).

    + Familiarity with messaging systems (Apache Kafka, MQ).

    + 3+ years of experience leading software development projects and mentoring developers.

    + Solid understanding of AI technologies and their practical applications.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Strong grasp of software delivery practices and agile methodologies.

    + Experience leading large-scale technical programs with end-to-end planning.

    + Proven ability to make informed decisions quickly and take ownership of services at scale.

    + Experience working with technology vendors and participating in technical/security audits.

    + Deep understanding of cloud architecture and software engineering principles.

    + Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, GitActions, Jenkins, Octopus.

    + Experience in unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews.

    + Experience with legacy systems and technologies including iBMI(AS/400), DB2, RPG and COBOL.

    Education

    Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

     

    Pay Range

    The typical pay range for this role is:

    $130,295.00 - $260,590.00

     

    This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
