    SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Mechanical Design Engineer I develops engineering design and drawings for details, assemblies, and installations to support the aircraft modification and Parts Manufacture Approval (PMA) programs. This position manages tasks independently with assignments provided by the Project Lead or Engineering Management and interacts with different members of internal and external organizations.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

    + Develops and designs aircraft structure and interior parts to support the required aircraft reconfiguration.

    + Develops designs that meet the technical, schedule, and cost objectives.

    + Researches aircraft configurations, technical specifications, and/or Statement of Work to ensure proper interface between aircraft structure, systems, and interior products.

    + Develops Engineering Orders and Work Instructions for aircraft installations.

    + Provides written technical accomplishment instructions for aircraft modifications or repairs to maintenance, customer, and regulatory authorities as necessary.

    + Generates accurate LOPAs and General Arrangement drawings.

    + Integrates models/designs into aircraft environment.

    + Participates in Design Reviews and Design Build Team meetings as required.

    + Advises Project Lead on risks, issues and action items.

    + Coordinates and assists in implementing new processes and procedures within the Engineering department to help improve efficiency.

    + Adheres to the processes and procedures of ATS and ATS Engineering and notifies Engineering Management when these procedures are not followed.

    + Establishes collaborative relationships to achieve objectives.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    + Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering or related field, with two (2) or more years of relevant aerospace experience preferred; or five (5) years of equivalent aircraft design experience required.

    + OEM airframe, system, and interior design practices experience preferred.

    + Aircraft interior and/or VIP retrofit experience preferred.

    PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit, stand and walk; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

    COMPENSATION

    The base pay range for this position is $78,000 – $99,000 annually, not including bonuses or benefits. Your pay will be based on your experience, skills, and education, as well as internal equity to ensure fairness across the team. Candidates closer to the lower end of the range are typically building their expertise, while those at the higher end bring significant experience and specialized knowledge. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
