    Temporary Employee - Non-Exempt

    Job Description Summary

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is seeking three part-time Research Assistants to support a new NIH-funded R01 to study the role of libraries in the overdose crisis. Specifically, this project seeks to address the persistent gaps in naloxone access by using public libraries—a critical safety net and frequent site of overdoses—as a test case for overdose prevention. By building a national Public Libraries Cohort (PLC), the team will identify barriers and facilitators of naloxone uptake, track overdose outcomes, and test strategies to increase overdose reversal readiness in library settings.

The Research Assistants will play a critical role in maintaining accurate contact information for libraries participating in the PLC, conducting telephone outreach, and supporting recruitment efforts. They will also manage and clean databases to ensure the integrity of data collected. To advance the project’s qualitative research aims, the Research Assistants will be trained in qualitative data analysis software and will contribute to the coding and analysis of extensive interview data. They will also receive training in qualitative interviewing techniques and conduct interviews as-needed.

These positions are essential to expediting data collection and analysis and will contribute to the iterative process of qualitative data interpretation. Research Assistants will be integral members of the Cannuscio Lab, which regularly mentors students and trainees from across the university and the country.
