Job Title: Network Engineer Consultant
Schedule: Hybrid (Onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
About the Role
TEKsystems is seeking a Network Engineer Consultant to support our client’s Reliability Services team. This role is critical to maintaining and evolving the network infrastructure that supports the operations of TEKsystems’ client across New England. You’ll be involved in both day-to-day operational support and strategic capital projects, with a strong focus on transitioning to Palo Alto technologies.
This hybrid role is based in Holyoke, MA, with occasional access to Windsor, CT.
Key Responsibilities
+ Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure supporting the Bulk Electric System using Cisco and Palo Alto technologies.
+ Provide Tier 2–3 support for routing, switching, and firewall systems.
+ Configure and manage Cisco Catalyst, Nexus switches, ASA, and Firepower platforms.
+ Deploy and manage Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama, including:
+ App-ID, User-ID
+ SSL decryption
+ Threat prevention
+ URL filtering
+ Manage VPN solutions (Cisco and Palo Alto) and high availability configurations (HSRP, DMVPN, SD-WAN).
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement ACLs and ensure secure network access.
+ Support patching, software upgrades, and DWDM appliances (Cisco NCS).
+ Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation every 3 weeks (Saturday to Sunday), following an onboarding period.
+ Ensure compliance with NERC CIP standards and maintain a secure network environment.
+ Utilize Ansible and Python for network automation (preferred).
+ Assist with CUCM onboarding and support.
+ Contribute to capital projects including technical refreshes and system/database upgrades.
Required Qualifications
+ 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering with Cisco and Palo Alto technologies.
+ Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP).
+ Proficiency with Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, ASA, and Firepower platforms.
+ Expertise in Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama.
+ Familiarity with HSRP, DMVPN, SD-WAN (Cisco Viptela), and MPLS.
+ Experience with SNMP and infrastructure monitoring tools.
+ Strong communication and collaboration skills.
+ Comfortable working in a hybrid environment (Holyoke/Windsor).
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with VMware or similar virtualization platforms.
+ Familiarity with Gigamon tools.
+ Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, PCNSE, or equivalent.
+ Experience with CUCM and voice networking.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
