    POSITION: DEAN OF GENERAL EDUCATION (Multi-Campus)

     

    REPORTS TO: Vice President for Academic Affairs

     

    SALARY RANGE: Mid to Upper $90’s annually, depending on education and qualifications

     

    EFFECTIVE: November 1, 2025

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Under minimum supervision, is responsible for providing administration for Lanier Technical College’s (LTC) General Education Division.

    Major Duties:

    • Functions as the academic leader of the General Education division and maintains a broad perspective of program needs across all campuses and multiple instructional locations related to the College community’s needs, talent management, and curriculum to support high quality instruction and continuous professional growth among faculty members;

    • Promotes instructional programs to public and private organizations;

    • Works with Human Resources to coordinate new faculty and staff hires, and verifies appropriate faculty qualifications;

    • Oversees accreditation attainment and continuance activities;

    • Recommends curriculum changes, program additions and program terminations in the General Education Division to supervisor;

    • Reviews course evaluations by students;

    • Reviews and approves all requests for supplies and materials, including all curriculum materials for the program;

    • Oversees enrollment and registration processes;

    • Resolves student complaints and issues;

    • Manages and oversees financial/budget operation of the department;

    • Monitors the activities of personnel to ensure compliance with TCSG policy manual and division procedures;

    • Develops and/or assists with the development of policies and procedures, and recommends changes to effectively meet the goals and requirements of the Division;

    • Evaluates employees at scheduled intervals upon reviewing of all relevant information;

    • Conducts regular evaluation of services provided and make adjustments as needed;

    • Maintains up-to-date policies and procedures in response to any TCSG, state or federal laws that may impact division initiatives;

    • Represents the division at various internal and external meetings;

    • Facilitates a leadership culture characterized by quality educational programming, innovation, and collegiality in a multi-campus environment that supports LTC’s student success agenda;

     

    Other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in education or closely related field or one of the following academic areas: humanities/fine arts, social behavioral sciences, or natural science/mathematics;

    • Three (3) years of full-time teaching experience in a post-secondary education environment.

    TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

    • Ability to analyze and utilize data to support decision making processes;

    • Ability to collaborate with various constituencies to help meet division and college-wide goals;

    • Thorough knowledge of local college policies and procedures, and other State and Federal rules, regulations, and laws pertaining to the efficient and ethical operation of the assigned area of responsibility;

    • Ability to analyze and understand industry, workforce, and educational trends; and ability to lead instructional programs within a changing environment;

    • Ability to understand and value the mission and philosophy of technical education;

    • Documented skills in training and/or employee development;

    • Proficiency with all job-related computer software programs;

    • Effective written and verbal communications skills.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (In addition to minimum qualifications and competencies):

    • Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited college or university in one of the following academic areas: humanities/fine arts, social behavioral sciences, or natural science/mathematics;

    • More than three (3) years’ experience as a full-time, classroom instructor;

    • Experience in curriculum development, instructional methodology, planning, evaluation, budgeting, supervision, and management in General Education (including distance education);

    • Experience in regional accreditation activities to include the development and assessment of student learning outcomes (SLOs).

    The School of General Education includes the following areas and programs:

    Communication Skills Fine Arts

     

    Humanities Mathematics

     

    Science (Lab-Based) Social Science

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The work is typically performed while sitting as a desk or table, or while intermittently sitting, standing, or walking. Occasionally lifts light to medium weight objects. Work is typically performed in an office environment.
