Description
TEKsystems is seeking a HPC Systems Engineer to join a Research & Development program in Colorado Springs supporting the USSF. IT Engineers build and maintain the IT Infrastructure of an organization. Using the skills, tools, equipment, facilities, and plans provided they implement an IT environment and report IT activities to the organization.
Additional responsibilities include:
+ Responsible for all areas of IT engineering rigor
+ Ensure operational adhesion to security requirements
+ Updating equipment firmware and software
+ Interface into devices and operating systems via CLI (SSH & serial console) and web interfaces
+ Network configuration (updates, expansion, and administration)
+ Report writing and technical documentation writing (Detailed Design and Implementation Plans (DDIP), test plans, email, project tasks, technical specifications, etc..)
+ Troubleshooting and remediation of IT problems (hardware, operating system, network, software, encryption protocols, etc..)
+ Reporting and tracking IT support tickets, and stakeholder (customer) engagement
+ Requesting authorization for maintenance window or outage
+ Security incident reporting and IT forensic documentation
Desired Experience:
+ No less than five years of IT experience in enterprise environments (more is better)
+ Experience working in DoD data center, Network Operations Center (NOC), Security Operations Center (SOC), Secure Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF), and/or other similar facilities
+ Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system, troubleshooting, software deployment, configuration
+ Use of regulated Change Management processes
+ Use of regulated Information Assurance processes
+ Use of regulated Cybersecurity processes and best practices
+ Use of STIG, DFARS, NIST, FedRAMP, RMF, DIACAP, and other security guidance or regulations
+ Use of POST, iLo, iDRAC, BIOS, UEFI, GRUB, systemd-boot, EFI, PXE, and other low-level computer protocols
+ Strong knowledge of network Ethernet and TCP-IP (CRC, differences between TCP-IP v4 and v6, CRC, MTU, the OSI Model, EIA/TIA-568 standard)
+ Use and updating of encryption (ex. SSL/TLS, IPsec, RSA, DES, OpenSSH, and other PKI formats)
+ Use of terminal emulation software (PuTTY, Xterm, etc..)
+ File systems and version controls
+ Reading and updating technical diagrams
+ Knowledge of project management
+ Use of Jira or similar project management and issue tracking tools
+ RBAC Systems and User management (local, LDAP, Active Directory)
Specific Skills:
+ Red Hat Linux (not Debian distributions)
+ IaaS, PaaS, HaaS implementation and support
+ VDI and VM environments
+ Kubernetes , Docker, and containerized timing and orchestration management
+ Knowledge of what the term ‘stack’ means and how it applies to IT
+ Time management and the ability to work independently or as a team
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Problem solving, troubleshooting, situational analysis, independent research

+ Desired degree in relevant STEM field (IT, computer science, etc..)

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
