    Job Title: Supervisor, Export Operations

     

    Reports To: Director, Customer Experience

     

    Position Location: Vernon Hills, IL

     

    Work Type: Hybrid (3 days in office)

     

    FLSA Status (Exempt/Non-Exempt): Exempt

    Position Summary:

    The Supervisor, Export Operations will be responsible for driving results, revenue, and productivity of the department through effective management and communication. In this role, the individual will work closely with the leadership team to communicate vision and deliver stellar customer service and export support results. The supervisor will plan and manage daily operations to meet the needs of customers —including international dealers and partners—while supporting department and company financial and operational goals. Key responsibilities include resolving complex customer situations in logistics, export compliance, and sales support; building and recruiting a highly skilled team; and ensuring staff can leverage modern tools to deliver faster, more efficient, and higher-quality service. Success in this position requires strong organizational, analytical, and leadership skills, with the ability to balance compliance, customer needs, and business growth.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Lead, coach, and develop associates to achieve departmental goals and deliver excellent Customer Service and Export Operations.

    + Recruit and build a highly skilled team capable of using tools and systems to provide faster, more efficient, and higher-quality service.

    + Provide guidance on company procedures, compliance requirements, and best practices to ensure team effectiveness.

    + Oversee the full export process, including order management, documentation, shipping, invoicing, and compliance.

    + Support international dealers and customers by ensuring accuracy, responsiveness, and compliance in all export activities.

    + Monitor workflow, optimize staffing, and implement process improvements to meet service-level goals and customer needs.

    + Support business integration and system/process enhancements to improve efficiency and service quality.

    + Develop, implement, and maintain standardized operating procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and organizational consistency.

    + Conduct routine audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify compliance gaps and implement corrective actions.

    + Ensure adherence to national security and legal requirements (e.g., SOX, EAR, ITAR) by verifying end-user information and ultimate order destinations.

    + Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies, auditors, and external partners to demonstrate conformity with trade regulations and company policies.

    + Analyze performance metrics and use data to drive proactive improvements, operational efficiency, and revenue growth (upselling/cross-selling).

    + Lead cross-functional teams to resolve service issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.

    + Manage complaint processes to enhance both customer and employee experience.

    + Stay current on products, markets served, international shipping regulations, trade compliance changes, and competitor activities.

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s Degree required in International Business, Supply Chain or related discipline equivalent work experience.

    Experience:

    + 3-5 years of relevant work experience and leadership/management experience.

    + Experience in export operations, international logistics, or trade compliance strongly preferred

    Qualifications:

    + Strong knowledge of export operations, international logistics, trade compliance, INCOTERMS, and global shipping practices.

    + Experience managing export documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin) and ensuring compliance with regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR, SOX).

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; adept at using data to improve processes, drive revenue opportunities (upselling/cross-selling), and resolve complex issues.

    + Proven leadership and management abilities to coach, develop, and motivate teams while maintaining a high level of customer service.

    + Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), export support tools, and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook); AS400 or other database management experience is a plus.

    + Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, efficiently works under pressure, within deadlines or other essential time constraints.

    + Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly and concisely communicate to all levels of the organization.

    + Strong work ethic and an ability to excel within a rapidly changing and growing organization.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    + Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000, depending on location, experience, and qualifications.
