• Network Engineer

    TEKsystems (New Orleans, LA)


    Position Summary:

    Our client is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to lead a critical infrastructure modernization initiative to the cloud. This role will drive the migration from legacy Cisco 9900 series devices, optimize HP closet configurations, and architect a transition from a flat Layer 2 network to a scalable Layer 3 environment.     Key Responsibilities:

    + Lead the migration from Cisco 9900 series switches to modern network infrastructure.

    + Design and implement a scalable Layer 3 network architecture.

    + Optimize VLAN configurations for segmentation and performance.

    + Extend and manage secure VPN tunnels to cloud environments (Azure, AWS).

    + Configure and maintain routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.

    + Support and maintain HP closet switches for optimal performance.

    + Deploy and manage Palo Alto firewalls, including policy creation and threat prevention.

    + Troubleshoot complex LAN/WAN issues and ensure resilient network communication.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure and cloud integration projects.

    Required Qualifications:

    + Proven hands-on experience with Cisco and HP routing/switching environments.

    + Experience/familiarity with HPE products.

    + Deep understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, VLANs, and inter-VLAN routing.

    + Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and network security best practices.

    + Strong bg in cloud VPN integration and hybrid networking.

    + Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.

    + Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving infrastructure environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Certifications such as CCNP, PCNSE, or Network+.

    + Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible).

    + Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and hybrid architectures.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
