We are currently in need of an Events and Programming Supervisor, who will supervise and direct a broad program of activities and services offered countywide and at BWA parks; ensure facilities are well-maintained and safe, and coordinate any concerns in the unit.     In this role, you will...

    Event Management and Program Delivery

    + Innovatively plans, develops, implements, promotes, and directs a broad program of activities, programs, and services offered Countywide and at BWA parks.

    + Maintains effective relations with a variety of community organizations, groups, and the public.

    + Works closely with County staff to provide comprehensive recreation services to County residents and to solve a broad range of service delivery, community, and administrative problems.

    + Serves as a liaison to the BWA Division Management Team and makes recommendations on recreation services, staffing, and procedures.

    + Handles citizen complaints and explains County ordinances, policies, and procedures. Function as a liaison with various user groups and organizations.

    + Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned staff. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of services to customers by offering suggestions and direction or by participating as an active member of the assigned work team.

    + Surveys and communicates with the community to determine recreation needs and implements programs to satisfy those needs as appropriate.

    + Orders materials, supplies, and equipment; prepares work orders for the accomplishment of maintenance needs.

    + Coordinates any maintenance concerns in the division through various departments and divisions.

    Operational Management

    + Assist in the development and direct the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and work standards for assigned events and programs.

    + Lead and/or assist in the operational needs in the field associated with events and programming to include but not limited to set-up, during event operation, and demobilization.

    + Assist in the preparation of the annual budget; Assists in administering the budget for accounts directly related to assigned areas or activities. Assists with contract management.

    + Prepares a variety of periodic and special reports related to recreation programs, facilities, revenue, expenditures, and recreation data collection.

    + Develops and writes procedures and manuals. Ensures compliance to county guidelines, policies and procedures

    + Ensure proper implementation of pricing plan. Monitors account receivables.

    + Assists with attaining and maintaining CAPRA accreditation for PRNR.

    + Manages, directs, coaches, mentors, trains, evaluates, disciplines and supervises direct staff. Ensures the proper supervision, training, coaching, and evaluation for subordinate staff. Promotes a positive culture within the organization through clear communication.

    + Works with the BWA team as the coordinator for volunteer program. Provides oversight and direction for all volunteer efforts.

     

    About the Schedule

    Work Hours:

    + Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

    + Typical Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    + As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.

     

    About You

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + A Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Education, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field.

    + Progressively responsible professional experience as described herein can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

    + Two years minimum supervisory experience; Two years minimum experience with conducting or overseeing programming from facility programs to large special events for the community

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Experience with cash handling from receipt to reconciliation and deposits.

    + Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP).

    + Experience with Rectrac registration software. Experience with Smartsheet.

     

    Fingerprint Screening: This position is subject to a mandatory fingerprint-based background check per applicable federal, state, and/or local laws. The screening will be used to verify criminal history and other relevant information as permitted by law. An applicant who fails to pass a required screening may be disqualified from employment.

    About Everything Else

    Starting Pay Range: $27.49/hour
