POSITION SUMMARY
Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opportunity for a Senior Workers Compensation Analyst in Findlay, Ohio. The Workers Compensation Analyst reports to the Absence Management Manager and may be responsible for different workstreams related to employee injury, workers compensation, FMLA, leaves of absence and/or long-term disability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Manages all aspects of employee injury claims, including but not limited to timely reporting of injuries to Third Party Administrator (TPA) , ensuring timely payment of appropriate workers’ compensation (WC) benefits, monitoring medical treatment to facilitate timely return to work and requesting settlement authority to resolve claims.
+ Ensures compliance with all state and federal laws governing workers compensation, Owner Controlled Insurance Programs, the Americans with Disabilities Act and leaves of absence.
+ Works directly with internal and external stakeholders to provide and/or request necessary information, data, address problems of mutual interest and otherwise ensure proper administration of WC benefits.
+ Responsible for special assignments and participates in process revisions to improve company-wide administration of WC benefits and to meet changing requirements. Identifies areas of improvement and recommends enhancements to methods, procedures and forms.
+ Ensures state insurance reporting requirements are met.
+ Tracks employees receiving occupational short-term disability (STD) benefits and coordinates with Payroll to ensure all appropriate pay offsets are identified.
+ Prepares presentations and conducts training regarding the workers compensation process for internal business partners, as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or related field required. Degrees in Risk Management & Insurance, Business Administration or Legal Studies are preferred.
+ Four (4) years of relevant experience in handling employee injury claims, including Workers Compensation, or insurance claims required. Marine Illness & Injury, Longshore, Jones Act & Owner Controlled Insurance Programs experience preferred.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to deliver a clear message to all levels of the organization.
+ Highly organized, detail-oriented & able to prioritize tasks.
+ Able to think strategically, analyze information and make decisions based on available information.
+ Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently to problem solve & resolve complex issues.
+ Adaptable to change and approaches change with a positive attitude.
+ Responds promptly to inquiries and requests for information and demonstrates excellent time management skills.
+ State laws very greatly, so ability to develop knowledge of all states in which the Company operates is necessary.
+ Demonstrates confidentiality related to employee health situations and status.
+ Team-oriented.
