The Schrank Laboratory at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is looking for a creative and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team. We are a friendly, multicultural lab focused on tackling some of the most pressing challenges in cancer therapy located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. Our lab investigates how genome instability, particularly in the form of extrachromosomal DNA (ecDNA), allows tumors to evolve, resist treatment, and evade the immune system. We aim to understand these fundamental mechanisms and then use that knowledge to develop new therapeutic strategies.

    *LEARNING OBJECTIVES*

As a postdoctoral fellow in our lab, you will lead a research project at the exciting intersection of DNA repair, cancer immunology, and translational medicine. Our primary goal is to empower our postdoctoral fellows to become independent scientific leaders. You will have dedicated mentorship from Dr. Benjamin Schrank, who has a strong record of publishing in premier journals like Nature and Nature Cancer. You will receive full support in developing your own ideas. We expect this to be a launching pad for your career; our goal is for you to publish high-impact work and move on to your desired position in academia or industry.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct experiments, perform data analysis, and prepare manuscripts in addition to attending lab meetings, journal clubs, and research seminars. The Postdoctoral Fellow's primary research focus is to integrate mechanistic discoveries with translational objectives to address unmet clinical needs in cancer therapy. The Postdoctoral Fellow will develop skills in study design, R/Python analysis pipelines, scientific writing, and grantsmanship.
