Description
We are hiring a trainee to help run a wastewater treatment plant. Wastewater is used water from homes and businesses. Your job will be to help clean this water so it can be safely returned to the environment. You will learn how the treatment plant works and how to keep it running safely and correctly.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a trainee, you will:
+ Learn how to use pumps, tanks, and other equipment to treat wastewater.
+ Help test water samples to check for chemicals, germs, and solids.
+ Watch equipment and make changes to keep the treatment working right.
+ Write down test results and daily work in a log.
+ Clean and take care of tools, machines, and buildings.
+ Follow all safety rules and work safely with chemicals and machines.
+ Talk and work well with your team.
Education, Experience, Licensing
Minimum Requirements:
+ High school diploma or GED, or similar experience.
+ A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
+ Willing to learn and follow directions.
+ Able to work safely around water, chemicals, and machines.
Preferred Experience:
+ 6 months or more working in wastewater, water, or similar jobs.
Required Training & Certification (Provided on the Job):
After you are hired, you must:
+ Finish Sacramento Wastewater Course Volume One – in 6 months.
+ Finish Sacramento Wastewater Course Volume Two – in 12 months.
+ Take the State Wastewater Operator Exam – within 18 months.
+ Get a “C” Wastewater Operator License – within 2 years.
Supplemental Information
Work Hours:
+ This is a full-time job (40 hours per week).
+ You must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
+ The plant runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Skills You Will Learn or Use:
+ How to run wastewater treatment machines and systems.
+ How to use math to measure and add chemicals.
+ How to take care of machines and tools.
+ How to safely handle lab supplies.
+ How to work as a team and talk clearly with others.
