Summary You will serve as a SAFETY DATA SPECIALIST in the NAVSAFECOM. Responsibilities You will investigate and resolve data discrepancies in the safety databases by performing cross-referencing against source documents, using data validation tools, SQL queries, and automated reports to identify errors or inconsistencies. You will assist the Head of the Data Management and Services Division by gathering user feedback, performing system testing, and recommending enhancements to iteratively improve the safety database’s reporting and query capabilities Retrieve and analyze safety mishap and hazard data by querying structured databases (e.g., using SQL or custom-built tools). You will engage with stakeholders through interviews, requirement-gathering, and iterative feedback loops to understand data needs, then translate those into structured query language or report specifications for accurate data extraction/analysis. You will maintain detailed documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials on mishap data retrieval methods and the use of the Safety Application Network. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: Demonstrating query/formatting skills; Independently recognizing required corrections and the processes for completing the tasks; Managing automation projects and standard processes to reduce team repetitive query/quality workload. GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: Demonstrating basic database skills; Establishing data quality control/assurance; Working knowledge in automation methods. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related or A combination of education and experience as described above that are equivalent to a major in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field plus appropriate experience or additional education. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. GS-09: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related or A combination of education and experience as described above that are equivalent to a major in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field plus appropriate experience or additional education.
