Summary
Reporting to the Plant Director and serving as a key member of the Plant Leadership Team, the Safety Manager will provide strategic direction, establish priorities, and lead health and safety initiatives across the site at our Food Manufacuring Process Facility.
This role is critical in driving continuous improvement in workplace health and safety by implementing the site’s Health and Safety Program and supporting line management in executing the broader safety strategy.
Key Responsibilities
+ Coach and support managers, providing advice and guidance in relation to the management of OHS risks, employee/contractor safety, OHS policies, workers compensation etc.
+ Co-ordinate OHS risk identification, risk assessment and risk control in all areas across the site, lead incident investigation and reporting activities
+ Support the delivery of health and wellbeing initiatives to promote a wellbeing-focused culture across the site and assist with the development of programs and strategies to assist employees and managers in identifying early interventions
+ Manage the Workers Compensation and Injury Management process which includes return to work, rehabilitation management and claims management strategies
+ Provide input to the development of OHS training plans, working with the LL&D team to co-ordinate and at times facilitate training sessions
+ Contribute to the development and review of GF OHS Policies and Procedures in line with regulatory and industry requirements
Typical Education
Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university(Industrial or Occupational Health degree preferred)
Relevant Experience
5+ years related experience and/or training
Other Information
+ Preferred CSP/OHST/CIH certifications, or willing to pursue a certification.
+ Bilingual in Spanish(preferred)
+ Knowledge / Experience
+ Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, Codes of Practice and OSHA / Australian Standards
+ Sound knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, risk control principles and their practical application to plant, equipment, processes, property, environment and other risk exposures within the business.
+ Solid understanding of the principles of work-related injury/illness and rehabilitation, practical application of appropriate claims management processes.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build partnerships both internally and externally at all levels of the organisation
+ ICAM (or equivalent root cause methodology) Investigator is desirable
+ Key Challenges / Success factors:
