Job Description
The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, solution-oriented, and enthusiastic individual to join as an Administrative Support Assistant 3 within our Licensing Division at our central office near Valley Junction in Des Moines, Iowa.

What You'll Do:
- Process applications for licensure using a licensing software system.
- Understand and implement administrative rules governing the licensure process.
- Review and evaluate supporting documents received for pending license applications, including test scores and credentials.
- Handle confidential documents and follow procedures established in the Code and administrative rules. Make an independent determination of each applicant’s eligibility for licensure.
- Read, understand and interpret information on supporting documents, including academic transcripts.
- Advise applicants on procedure and requirements and give appropriate and prompt responses to questions by telephone and in person.
- Draft and send written correspondence to applicants regarding their application.
- Process licensure fees, issue licenses and certificates, and enter licensing information in the online system on a daily basis.
- Assist with preparation for board meetings and attend board meetings if requested.
- Provide assistance to the assigned board executives, including preparation of correspondence, minutes, and professional reports.
- Answer multiple phone and walk-in inquiries from individuals, schools and businesses about requirements for initial licensure, relocation from another state, and continuing education requirements.
- Consult with the board support counterparts in order to maintain good communication between licensure and boards. - Reply to "Contact Us" and other general inquiry email correspondence.
- Prioritize tasks in the order to provide timely answers to a large number of queries.
- Assist stakeholders to access public licensure information and lists of active licensees through the web-based database.
- Provide information to the Disciplinary Office and assigned AAG upon request, and assist the Board Executive to process complaints.
- Participate in bureau staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned during periods of peak workload.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
+ Two years of full-time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work.
+ A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
+ Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 2 or eighteen months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 1.
