    The Center for Adolescent, Reward, Rhythms & Sleep (CARRS), an NIH-funded center, is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator to assist with two research projects examining sleep, circadian rhythms, brain function, mood, and behavior in adolescents. This position will follow a Monday through Friday schedule with required weekend and evening hours occasionally. The team operates out of Western Psychiatric Hospital in Oakland in a hybrid work arrangement, combining in-person (3 days per week) and remote work (2 days per week).

     

    The Research Coordinator will work closely with the Lead Research Project Coordinator, other research/recruitment staff, data managers, staff of the Sleep and Behavioral Neuroscience Center (SBNC) and the Magnetic Resonance Research Center (MRRC) to manage and support the day-to-day operations of the research projects. They must be able to work independently and ensure compliance with research protocols and will be responsible for general lab management and participant recruitment.

     

    The ideal candidate will have experience working with adolescents in a health-related field such as public health, nursing, or psychology, along with proven skills in project management, including participant enrollment, planning, execution, delivery, quality assurance, and reporting. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.

     

    The candidate should be able to work well both independently and as part of a team, while demonstrating leadership skills when necessary. Comfort working in a clinical environment and interacting with adolescent research participants and their families is required.

     

    The candidate must enjoy working in a fast-paced research environment, collaborating with a diverse team, and learning new skills. They must be self-motivated, complete all work tasks with minimal monitoring, and act in a professional manner always. The position requires early evening and weekend hours.

     

    This position is grant funded.

    Responsibilities:

    + Oversee and manage all aspects of the project in accordance with protocol specifications

    + Coordinate participant recruitment, track progress, and develop strategies to boost response rates within targeted populations

    + Pay and document participant payment

    + Schedule research staff for participant lab visits * Manage staff time-off requests and timecards

    + Oversee and train team of research specialists, research associates, and directed research students involved in participant lab visits

    + Monitor and maintain lab visit calendar

    + Communicate with adolescent participants and their parents regarding research procedures and lab visits

    + Oversee and organize data from lab visits

    + Support quality assurance for data collection and management, ensure proper data flow, entry, verification, and security, as well as monitor project databases

    + Monitor lab set-up prior to participant visits & lab clean-up after visits

    + Collect data according to study protocols, including behavioral tasks and fMRI scans

    + Manage IRB modifications

    + Manage supply inventory, ordering, and invoicing from vendors

    + Perform other research duties as assigned

    + Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors

    + Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Social Work, Counseling, Sociology, or related research field. Masters degree preferred.

    + Minimum of 3 years of work in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.

    + Prior experience with research coordination is preferred.

    + Previous experience with adolescents and/or families is preferred.

    + Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.

    + Familiarity with ACCESS & EXCEL preferred.

    + Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.

    + Ability to work evenings and weekends (including Saturdays and/or Sundays).

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + Act 31 with renewal

    + Act 33 with renewal

    + Act 34 with renewal

    + Act 73 with renewal
