Demand Planning Specialist

Purpose:
The Demand Planning Specialist is responsible for the procurement of all products that are included in UPMC's asset inventory. This position supports planning inventory levels for the right product (and product substitutions) and is responsible for ensuring that we have the right amount of product in stock and at the right time to meet the demand of our healthcare delivery model. The Demand Planning Specialist performs all inventory procurement activities, is responsible for resolving all procure to pay pricing and receiving exceptions, and will support the processes for product returns. This position will serve as a liaison between the procurement team, the central distribution center, and our materials management team at each UPMC facility. This position requires well-developed analytical skills and an ability to comprehend and utilize statistical methodologies in a detail oriented, fast paced environment.
Responsibilities:
+ Responsible for developing and maintaining target inventory levels by item through the use of reorder points (ROP), min/max planning, order multiples, and economic order quantities (EOQ) to support business and demand forecasts
+ Responsible for completing additional projects as defined by management to support business objectives.
+ Work collaboratively with end users (supply chain and clinical) to proactively improve forecast accuracy and order fulfillment.
+ Responsible for the procurement of inventory purchase orders and the timely resolution of all associated match exceptions
+ Understand, embrace, and participate in major business objectives, company vision, and core values
+ Responsible for the maintenance and quality of purchase order composition, ensuring all data elements are correct, i.e. supplier item id, manufacturer item id, quantity, unit of measure (UOM), pricing, etc.
+ Participate in item conversions, new inventory additions, and recall management as required.
+ Timely processing and resolution of inventory receiving discrepancies including overages, shortages, and incorrect or damaged goods from the supplier.
+ Performs related responsibilities as required/assigned
+ One of the following is required:
+ Bachelor's degree
+ Associate degree and 2 yrs. previous supply chain experience
+ HS diploma and 4 yrs. previous supply chain experience
+ Experience with Oracle and Microsoft Office or an equivalent ERP system is required.
+ Healthcare Purchasing experience is preferred.
+ Must demonstrate strong organization and communication skills, ability to provide exceptional customer service and work well as a member of a team in a fast paced environment.
+ Ability to work well independently.
