Job Description
**ORDER OF PREFERENCE:** The selection for Maintenance and Construction is made on the basis of fitness and ability with preference given to: Maintenance and Construction District, System-Wide (L689), Authority-Wide and external candidates, respectively.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
+ A high school diploma or possession of a general equivalency diploma (GED
Experience
+ One (1) year of experience in logistics and transportation, including the use of motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment and operating a vehicle which requires a commercial driver¿s license
Certification/Licensure
+ Possession of a valid commercial driver¿s license (CDL) with a safe driving record.
Preferred
+ Experience handling products packaged in various method, including on a cart, pallet, or loose on a box truck

Satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this position, if required. The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of this position either with or without reasonable accommodations.
Mission Essential Designation:
+ In accordance with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority¿s Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) this job has been identified as critical to mission essential functions. Incumbents in this role may be required to report to or continue to work in the event of authorized office closings or service suspensions due to severe weather, natural disaster, fire, operational emergencies or related events.
Job Summary
The Parts Runner CDL performs the logistics and transportation of WMATA inventory and non-stock products from various WMATA warehouses and facilities to designated delivery locations. The incumbent is responsible for safeguarding and ensuring the chain of custody of WMATA delivery load, while ensuring the safe operation of WMATA¿s vehicles for own personal safe and others.
Essential Functions
+ Performs the logistics and transportation of WMATA inventory and non-stock products from various WMATA warehouses and facilities to designated delivery locations by operating a WMATA vehicle.
+ Places items/material in designated location, exercising care in placement to minimize the potential for injury or damage.
+ Monitors and performs retrieval, transport, restock, and inventory of defective or spare parts from assigned locations. Retrieves defective and unneeded parts from a designated location.
+ Contacts the supervisor and provides notification that the deliveries have been made and to which facility or location.
+ Participates in safety-related discussions with supervisor prior to every assigned shift and to receive the first assignment for the shift.
Other Functions
+ May be required to retrieve parts in and out of assigned warehouses as required, using Maximo, as well as physically pulling parts.
+ May be required to load or unload parts and materials upon receipt and operate a WMATA vehicle.
+ Completes special assignments and other duties, as necessary, to support the department¿s mission.
+ Operates Authority¿s vehicles as part of daily work assignment in a safe and responsible manner.
