Job Summary
The Transmission System Operations Supervisor oversees the real time operation of the bulk electric system. While on shift he/she is responsible for operating the LIPA transmission system in a safe, reliable and efficient manner. This person is required to obtain and maintain a Transmission Operator NERC Certification or higher prior to performing the functions of the position.
Job Responsibilities
+ In coordination with the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), manage and implement procedures during normal and emergency conditions in the LIPA Transmission System in order to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the system. Some of these procedures include voltage reduction, emergency load reduction and load shedding. The Transmission System Operations Supervisor has the standing authority to perform these actions without obtaining prior approval from higher level personnel within PSEGLI.
+ Direct the prompt restoration of the LIPA transmission system during storms and other system emergencies.
+ Monitor and maintain the LIPA transmission system within thermal and voltage operating limits and implement corrective action when necessary.
+ Perform transmission system reliability analyses to determine the impact of scheduled and forced equipment outages.
+ Adjust power transfers across interfaces or transmission paths to maintain system reliability.
+ Attend the NYISO Training Seminar twice per year.
+ Maintain a working understanding of Transmission Operations Manuals, PSEGLI policies and procedures, New York Independent System Operator procedures, Northeast Power Coord Council policies and NERC TOP standards
+ Owns functional tasks on day-to-day compliance with the all the NERC Standard's Requirements assigned.
+ Serves as contact for all assigned compliance activities.
+ Coordinates the reviews and approvals as specified in Standard Requirements. Ensures required policies/procedures are followed and that any local dept-level procedures encompassing the NERC Compliance Standards Requirements are up to date.
+ Provides materials for required reviews and approvals of all assigned compliance activities for submission.
+ Works with SME Mgrs and Lead SME Contributor on functional day-to-day compliance activities to ensure all are effectively coordinated, sustained in the LOB. Provides updated and approved input to the Lead SME for the Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets, CIP Evidence Request Tool, O&P Evidence Tracking Sheet and for all assigned NERC Standard. Includes FERC, NERC, NPCC, LIPA, NY State, DHS.
Job Specific Qualifications
+ Four year engineering degree and at least 8 years of equivalent experience in the area of system protection, substation maintenance, transmission planning, power systems engineering or operations.
+ Two year degree and at least 10 years of equivalent experience in the area of system protection, substation maintenance, transmission planning, power systems engineering or operations.
+ Minimum of 10 equivalent years of experience in Transmission Operations.

+ Leadership and excellent interpersonal skills are required.
+ The successful candidate will be expected to work with other professionals in a team-oriented and sometimes stressful environment.
+ Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time and be able to prioritize work and provide leadership during critical system events.
+ Must be comfortable with making decisions often with limited input and extreme time constraints.
+ Must have excellent problem solving skills.
+ Must have comprehensive computer skills (including Excel and Word) in order to utilize numerous computer applications.
+ Excellent written and clear oral communication skills.
+ Flexibility to work multiple shifts and ability to work overtime when required.
+ Applicants will be required to take an approved job aptitude test administered by an outside consultant in order to be accepted for the position.
+ Employees selected for this position will be required to participate in federally mandated drug and alcohol testing programs.
+ Employees selected for this position must pass a personal risk assessment.

As an employee of PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm/outage restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and work extended hours beyond your regular work schedule. You may also be required to work on premise or in an alternate location as directed by the company.
