• Sr. Geotechnical Engineer

    Job Description

    A client of Insight Global is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer with 5–10 years of experience, including at least 2 years of hands-on fieldwork. The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland and possess a strong background in geotechnical engineering, with a preference for expertise in geophysics. This role is best suited for a proactive professional capable of independently managing medium-sized projects from concept through completion.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects across various sectors including:

    • Roadways and transportation infrastructure

    • Shallow foundations and deep foundations

    • Airports and pavement design

    • Municipal structures and public works

    • Bridge and structural evaluations

    • Conduct geotechnical investigations, including field exploration, soil sampling, and laboratory testing.

    • Analyze subsurface conditions and provide engineering recommendations for design and construction.

    • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.

    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during design and preconstruction phases.

    • Oversee junior staff and provide mentorship and technical guidance.

    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.

    Skills and Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.

    • 5–10 years of geotechnical engineering experience, including 2+ years of fieldwork.

    • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Maryland.

    • Proven ability to manage medium-sized projects independently. Preferred: Background or experience in geophysics and subsurface imaging techniques.
