• Staff Accountant

    Job Description

    A large gas and oil company in Long Beach, CA is looking for a Staff Accountant that will focus heavily on accounts receivable management, rebate reconciliation, and aging reduction strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for improving financial processes.

     

    Accounts Receivable

     

    Monitor and manage the full-cycle accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliations.

     

    Investigate and resolve discrepancies in customer accounts.

     

    Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate billing.

     

    Generate aging reports and proactively follow up on overdue accounts.

     

    Rebate Management

     

    Track, validate, and reconcile vendor and customer rebate programs.

     

    Ensure accurate recording of rebate accruals and payments.

     

    Maintain documentation and audit trails for all rebate transactions.

     

    General Accounting

     

    Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.

     

    Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    2+ years of experience in general ledger accounting with an emphasis on accounts receivables

     

    Strong experience with ACH applications - electronically / physically

     

    Strong experience with Excel - pivot tables, v look ups, x look ups

     

    Strong experience with ERP / accounting systems

     

    Bachelor's Degree Experience with rebates

     

    Experience with reducing aging
