Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Part A Inpatient Medical Coder with extensive experience in cardiothoracic surgery coding. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience, hold a CCS certification, and be proficient in MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
• Ensure compliance with federal coding regulations and hospital policies.
• Review and analyze medical records to determine appropriate codes and DRG assignments.
• Collaborate with clinical documentation improvement (CDI) teams to ensure coding accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, payer requirements, and regulatory changes.
• Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives as needed.

Skills and Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of inpatient coding experience, with a strong focus on cardiothoracic surgery.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential from AHIMA.
• Proficiency in MS-DRG and APR-DRG grouping methodologies.
• Deep understanding of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Experience with Epic, Cerner, or other EHR systems.
• Familiarity with coding compliance audits and CDI collaboration.
• Advanced training or coursework in cardiothoracic anatomy and procedures.
• MCS(Mechanical Circulatory Support), Transplant (Heart, Lung, LVAD).
