Job Description

Heim Elementary School

Food Service Helper – 22.5 hours/week (4.5 hrs./day: Times 9:00 am - 1:30pm)

10 months per year

Duties:

+ Prepares and portions daily school menu production items as specified by unit manager.

+ Assists with pots and pans, general kitchen clean up, serving food to students and ware-washing.

+ Responsible for maintaining clean and sanitary work areas.

+ Acts as cashier.

+ May be assigned to any and all aspects of school food service operations.

+ Prepares and cooks soups, pizza, meats, vegetables

+ Makes salads and sandwiches and a variety of other foods

+ May serve prepared meals from the steam table.

+ Helps manager with inventory and may assist in food ordering

Requirements:

+ Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

+ Good organizational skills.

+ Dependability.

+ Good people skills.

+ Good physical condition.

+ Team player.

+ Patient with children.

+ Basic math skills.

+ Some food preparation experience preferred but not required.
