    SUMMARY Performs simulator software maintenance and development. Research plant systems operational characteristics and develops software applications for use on the simulator environment. Assist training instructors with any simulator software questions, concerns or malfunctions during training or development. EDUCATION

     

    + Bachelor’s degree in engineering (i.e. Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial) (Preferred)

    + Without the above degree, 5 years’ experience in Software or IT Development may be considered.

    + Without any degree, relevant experience may be considered.

    EXPERIENCE

    + + Generalist - 2 Year of experience in software development using current programming languages in simulation application including 3 years’ experience at a nuclear power plant simulator. (Required)

    + Sr - 5 Years of experience in software development using current programming languages in simulation application including 3 years’ experience at a nuclear power plant simulator. (Required)

    + Staff - 8 Years of experience in software development using current programming languages in simulation application including 3 years’ experience at a nuclear power plant simulator. (Required)

    + Consult - 10 Years of experience in software development using current programming languages in simulation application including 3 years’ experience at a nuclear power plant simulator. (Required)

    LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

    + There is no Licensure or Certifications required.

     

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES SIMULATOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT Performs simulator software maintenance, development and documentation.

     

    + Performs required simulator testing and creates its associated documentation in accordance with ANSI/ANS-3.5-2009 and relevant plant procedures

    + Researches and reviews plant operational data to verify simulator fidelity and develop simulator software models as needed.

    + Maintains individual education to use leading edge programming technologies in software development.

    + Assists training instructors with any simulator software related questions, malfunctions or concerns

    + Conducts impact assessment of plant modifications on the simulator and provide cost estimates of corresponding simulator modifications.

    + Maintain simulator fidelity and configuration.

    SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    + Basic Nuclear Power Plant Generation cycle knowledge is preferred.

    + Ability to access the computer room terminals and ability to operate simulator control switches.

    + Ability to work collaboratively with personnel in simulator software and hardware positions to address Simulator Discrepancy Reports in a timely manner.

    + Working experience in the L3HM simulator software programming and modules is preferred.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Accept ERO position and be able to meet the response requirements if needed.

    + Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.

    + Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position .

    Environmental & Physical Requirements

    + Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    + Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.

    + Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.

    + Travel may be required.

    + May be required to carry a phone.

    + Some plant tours and the hazards associated with each.

    WORK LOCATION

    + Site – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.
