Description
As a Medical Childcare Lead Teacher, you will be the lead caregiver for an assigned group of children with medical needs and developmental delays. You will provide and assist with care and treatment services to children served by ChildServe as designated by their individualized care plan. You will also collaborate directly with an interdisciplinary team of outpatient therapists to assist with child development.
ChildServe's Day Health program offers specialized weekday care for children and young adults with significant medical needs and developmental delays. The program includes on-site therapy services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Our Day Health program focuses on each child's overall health. For this reason, we provide therapeutic activities to develop coordination, self-confidence, social competencies, and more.
Benefits and Compensation
The starting pay for this position is $17.10/hr.
This role is full-time and eligible for health benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, paid time off, and a 403B retirement account. PTO is frontloaded upon hire and starts accruing immediately.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, varied hours between 7:30am-5:30pm
What You'll Do
+ Organize and lead group and individual activities designed to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. Prepare and implement lesson activities that adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet children’s varying needs, interests, and individual therapeutic goals.
+ Follow all aspects of the Individual Care Plan to include nursing, therapy, and behavioral support. Assist the children in becoming as independent as possible through skill development and retention. Participates in care team meetings or assists in reviewing/updating care plans as assigned.
+ Arrange and maintain assigned program area space to facilitate creative play, skill development, and safety.
+ Engage in ongoing communication with the care team to discuss program and needs, determine priorities, and suggests ways to promote learning, development and health.
+ Facilitate appropriate communication between families and care team. Record and communicate all pertinent information to families or appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
What You'll Need
+ Minimum of two years’ experience working with children. Prefer experience working with children and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Must complete and pass the National DCI fingerprint process, and child/adult abuse and criminal background check prior ot hire and every two years thereafter; and complete the child abuse affidavit.
+ Must be able to pass a ChildServe physical examination at commencement of employment and therafter as regulations require.
+ Be able to withstand exposure to the usual childhood diseases and conditions associated with children and disabilities.
+ Required to complete two-step TB Test and annual flu shot
+ Lift up to 50lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
+ Maintain a calm demeanor in an environment that can change quickly with elevated behaviors and different demands
+ Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
