Summary This position is located in Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Facilities Services Directorate (FSD), Facilities Services Division, Alterations Work Group (AWG). This position involves the responsibility for repairing and/or fabricating high- grade wooden items. The work involves shaping and contouring surfaces, precise, intricate joining and decorations techniques. Incumbent must be skilled in the use of a full range of woodworking tools, machines and techniques. Responsibilities This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) in accordance with Section 1109 of FY 2020 NDAA; P.L. 116-92 and Section 9905 of Title 5, U.S.C. Typical work assignments may include the following but are not limited to: Perform a wide variety of woodcrafter work involved in making and repairing wood items Plan and layout work from sketches, blueprints and make templates and patterns Perform work using such as power shaper, mortisers, tenoners, jointers, routers and lathes Fit, assemble and decorate wooden material and parts Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For qualifications determinations, it is recommended that applicants include their months and hours worked per week for each employment listed on their resume. Performing difficult and complex Wood Crafter tasks with little to no supervision including: repairing and/or fabricating high-grade wooden items such as fine cabinetry, desks, tables, wall boards, furniture, and other wooden items; 2. Shaping and contouring surfaces, precise intricate joining and decorating; shaping and contouring surfaces; 3. Planning and laying out work from sketches, blueprints, making templates and patterns; performing work using such tools as power shaper, mortisers, tenoners, jointers routers and lathes to cut, turn, shape join, bond, fit assemble and decorate wooden material and parts. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
